Meet the Staff

Executive Director
Ms. White is a native of Georgetown South Carolina and comes to Neighbors for Better Neighborhoods by way of Columbia S.C. Ms. White attended the College of Charleston where she received her BA in Urban Studies with a concentration in Planning & Administration in 1998. Ms. White served as the program officer for Neighbors for Better Neighborhoods for seven years and was promoted to Executive Director on October 1, 2007. Previously Ms. White worked at the N.E.W. Fund and Rural Development Initiative in Charleston South Carolina. There she assisted with the design of the N.E.W. Fund Leadership Development Training Program for community leaders and worked extensively in the Charleston community with residents to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods.

Community Organizer
Originally from Chitré Panamá, Ms. Lesbia Castillo graduated from the University of Panamá with a degree in nursing and a post grade in community health. Ms. Castillo worked for 23 years as a nurse in her native county of Panamá. During her 23 years of service she worked in all areas related to Panamá’s healthcare system; working the first five years at Santo Thomas Hospital in Panamá city and the remaining 18 years at Cecilio A. Castillero Hospital in her native province of Herrera in the city of Chitré.
